Clothes Recycling

School opening times

Our textile recycling bin is located in the junior’s playgroundand brings in a regular income for our charity however it offers so much more.

Did you know?

It takes 700gallons of water to make a cotton shirt, to put this into perspective, theamount of water needed to make a t-shirt is enough for one person to stayhydrated for 900 days.

Clothes cantake up to 40 years to decompose and have harmful effects on the environment. They release gases like methane, the dyes and chemicals used contaminate thesoil and water in the ground.

Shoes can take up to 1,000 years to break down.

What Can Calcot Parents do?

Educating our children and making a positive change can massively improveour carbon foot print.

95% of textiles can be recycled! By using the Clothes bank you areeither giving an item a second chance or the opportunity to be recycled intosomething new.

Calcot’s PTFA also have a pre-Loved uniform store. So much immaculateuniform if sent to landfill, by using pre-loved we save money and the environment.Uniform can be either swapped, bought for 50p per item or free of change, noquestions asked. Just get in contact with one of the committee members or emailchairman@calcotschoolsptfa.co.uk.
